ESPN’s College GameDay panel of experts narrowly picked Texas to cover against Michigan in the two teams’ showdown in Ann Arbor on Saturday afternoon.

Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso all picked Texas to cover the -6.5 spread, while Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and guest picker Michael Phelps picked Michigan to cover at home.

The tie was broken by host Reese Davis, who immediately picked Texas.

“This game will be decisively won by the visitors from Austin Texas,” Davis said.

Saban compared the game to Texas’ game at Alabama last year, when the Longhorns went to Tuscaloosa and won decisively.

“I think they have the poise and the skill players on offense,” Saban said. “They’re going to be challenged by (Wink Martindale’s) defense, but I have think that Texas is going to win out.”

Herbstreit predicted a close game but ultimately questioned if Michigan had enough offensive firepower to win.

“Their defense is going to show up,” Herbstreit said. “Now, do they have the offense right now in week 2 to win a game like this? Time will tell.”
