PARADISE, MI — One of Michigan’s most majestic sights is coming alive with color this week as Tahquamenon Falls State Park turns yellow, orange and red.
Michiganders who have been waiting patiently for peak fall colors will be excited to see leaves change rapidly across the Upper Peninsula.
Both the Upper and Lower Falls started to see color this weekend, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
The state park posted photos on social media saying they’re expecting to see the peak this week.

MLive Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa predicts color will start to paint the northern Lower Peninsula between Oct. 17 and Oct. 24.
Forecast is looking good for a weekend fall color trip with warm weather and peak color lining up, Torregrossa said.
He added that the best leaf spotting will be inland first.
Michigan is unique in that fall colors occur inland first and then along Great Lakes’ shorelines a week later.
National Parks Service adds that color hunters should seek out viewing locations where two ecosystems meet, like where the woods border a field or the shoreline of a lake.
