CASA games kick off in Bungoma – Kenya News Agency

Excitement, enthusiasm, and anticipation characterised the beginning of this year’s County Assembly Sports Association (CASA) games, which bring together all County Assembly Members in Kenya to participate in various sporting categories.

The games that kicked off yesterday, Tuesday, October 23rd, at the Masinde Muliro grounds in Bungoma County, aim to promote unity and comradeship among various County Assemblies.

The three-day championship themed ‘Fostering Inclusivity and Diversity in County Sports and Cultural Events’ has representation from all the 47 counties in Kenya competing in various sporting activities that include football, volleyball, pool, and athletics.

The colourful opening ceremony saw the parading of participants representing the various counties, most of whom adorned traditional attire from their respective counties as they showcased their cultural diversity.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the CASA Games Organising Committee, Peter Imwatok, and the Chairperson of the County Assemblies Forum (CAF) and Speaker of the Elgeyo-Marakwet County Assembly, Philemon Sabulei, hailed the initiative as a great way to foster unity and collaboration among County Assembly members.

The activities on day one were very competitive and aggressive as teams from different assemblies battled it out on the various pitches, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship.

The crowd cheered with zeal as their respective teams played amidst an electrifying atmosphere at the Masinde Muliro grounds.

As games progressed, the main agenda friendship was met and bonds were strengthened among the County Assembly members, which proved that the event was not only for sports championships but also for building relationships and networking among various devolved units.

The CASA games at the Masinde Muliro grounds were a resounding success, with participants already looking forward to next year’s event.

The games exemplified the spirit of unity and collaboration among Kenya’s county assemblies, showcasing the power of sports that bring Kenyans from various counties together in the spirit of patriotism and sportsmanship.
