The win over Minnesota wasn’t pretty, but Michigan is back in the top 10 of college football’s rankings this week.

The Wolverines jumped two more spots, to No. 10, in the new AP Top-25 poll released Sunday after a 27-24 victory over the Golden Gophers. Michigan is now 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in Big Ten play, with a road game set for Washington next Saturday (7:30 p.m. ET, NBC).

It marks the first time Michigan has been in the top 10 of the AP poll since Week 2. The program fell in the poll for three consecutive weeks before reversing course last week and rocketing up to No. 12.

Alabama is college football’s new No. 1 team following a thrilling 41-34 win over Georgia Saturday night, leapfrogging Texas (No. 2). The Bulldogs fell three spots to No. 5, behind Ohio State and Tennessee.

Oregon (No. 6) and Penn State (No. 7) both rose two spots thanks to an Ole Miss loss, giving the expanded Big Ten four teams in the top 10. The SEC has five, including four of the top five ranked teams in the country.

The biggest riser this week is BYU, who jumped up five spots to No. 17 following a 34-28 win at Baylor and 5-0 start to the season. Utah fell the furthest, eight spots to No. 18 after a 23-10 loss to unranked Arizona.

The Big Ten has seven ranked teams in total this week, with USC climbing two spots to No. 11, 5-0 Indiana debuting at No. 23 and Illinois falling to No. 24 after the loss at Penn State.

Michigan also rose two spots to No. 10 in the US LBM coaches’ poll, which still has Texas at No. 1.
