Whether you need a pint of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Fireball shooters for a football tailgate, cheap sparkling rosé for a wine night or eggs for a cake recipe, Campus Corner has you covered. Conveniently located on South State Street, Campus Corner is about a 10-minute walk from the Big House. On any given game day, you can expect there to be a revolving door of University of Michigan students and fans getting all of the supplies needed for a good college tailgate.
In an interview with The Michigan Daily, Campus Corner owner Joe Kraim spoke on the variety of goods offered at the store.
“It is like a small supermarket here,” Kraim said. “We have everything you could possibly need or want: breakfast, booze, medicine or random groceries.”
The storefront is recognized for its bright “liquor” sign and its vamped-up logo of a keg with “Campus Corner” written across it. Going to a liquor store with your friends is a quintessential yet underrated college experience. Having served Ann Arbor residents and U-M students since 1896, Campus Corner has been the core of that experience.
Since becoming the owner of Campus Corner in 1997, Kraim has prioritized getting to know his customer base of U-M students. People enjoy recognizing him at the store, and he enjoys recognizing them.
“We are all about the students here,” Kraim said. “We have a new relationship with the students every year. People come back here after graduating and they are always happy to see me. I am so proud of every one of them — some of them are doctors or professors — it is always good to see them.”
