Bernard Allotey Jacobs has issued a stern caution to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Minority in Parliament over their conduct in the House.
The Minority on Tuesday, October 22, took the Majority chamber while the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Majority members led by the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, boycotted the proceedings for peace to prevail in the House.
The current controversy in the House emanates from the Speaker’s declaration of Agona West, Amenfi Central, Fomena and Suhum seats vacant.
Commenting on the issue on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo” show, Allotey Jacobs, a former NDC Central Regional Chairman, rebuked the Minority stating “you can’t force yourself to take power when it is not yours. If you want majority, go and do your campaign on the ground, come back to Parliament in 2025 and be the majority”.
Diagnosing the reason why Minority is eager to take the majority position, Allotey said the Minority plans to cast a vote of no confidence in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo by staging the cancelation of the E-Levy knowing very well they need the President’s assent.
To him, the Minority’s posture poses a major threat to the nation.
