The highly anticipated fifth book in Suzanne Collins‘ beloved Hunger Games series is finally here: Sunrise of the Reaping.

The novel joins The Hunger Games (2008), Catching Fire (2009), Mockingjay (2014) and The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2020). It also marks the second prequel, after The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, in the collection (The Hunger Games, Catching Fire and Mockingjay make up the original Hunger Games trilogy).

As a gift to her loyal fans, Collins teamed with Barnes & Noble on a B&N Exclusive Edition of Sunrise of the Reaping, which includes an in-depth conversation between the author and her publisher, David Levithan.

B&N Exclusive Edition

In addition to Barnes & Noble, the novel is currently available on Bookshop.org and Amazon, but without the bonus content.

The new prequel is set during the 50th annual Hunger Game and follows Haymitch Abernathy of District 12’s journey through the deadly competition.

With the addition of Sunrise of the Reaping, Scholastic has compiled a Hunger Games five-book hardcover box set, available for pre-order now at Scholastic and Amazon. The official release date is June, 3, 2025, and the collectible set will be delivered on or just after that date. Through tonight, Scholastic is offering 20 percent off sitewide, so be sure to snag the discounted box set while you can.

On June 6, 2024, Lionsgate announced a Sunrise of the Reaping film adaptation was in production, set for a Nov. 20, 2026 release. This follows the 2023 movie adaptation of 2020’s The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes novel, starring Rachel Zegler and Tom Blyth.

In addition to offering novels with exclusive bonus content, Barnes & Noble houses an impressive collection of signed memoirs from icons like Jordan Chiles, Lionel Richie, Chelsea Handler and Scott “Kid Cudi” Mescudi.
