Within the last 24 hours, the Michigan hockey team has made some noise in this recruitment cycle. The Wolverines added Matthew Mania to their blueline on Wednesday, but didn’t wait very long before grabbing another forward for their 2025-2026 squad.
On Thursday, Justin Larose announced via Instagram that he would be making the move to Ann Arbor for next season. As a forward from the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, Larose is another new face joining Michigan’s roster.
Larose spent three-and-a-half seasons playing for the Victoriaville Tigers before jumping to Drummondville Voltigeurs to finish out last year. During his time for Victoriaville, he tallied 39 points through the first two years before having a breakout season the following year. He posted 96 points in 81 games to help push a deep playoff run for the Tigers.
Before leaving for Drummondville halfway during the season, Larose averaged one point per game, good for 37 points for Victoriville. Once he joined the Voltiegeurs, Larose’s production continued with ease, snagging 26 points in his 33 game appearances.
The Wolverines went into this offseason looking for skaters who were going to provide a boost to their offensive game. Last season, forwards senior T.J. Hughes and sophomore Michael Hage accounted for the majority of the point production with 72 points collectively. With this addition to Michigan’s roster, Larose could help with some of the offensive load.
Wolverines coach Brandon Naurato has utilized the new pool of Canadian junior players during this offseason as he continues to build his roster. After failing to make the NCAA Tournament last season, Naurato is finding players in hope of putting Michigan back in the postseason.
