Happy solving!<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Tricky Clues:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>14A. \u201cArbiter of what\u2019s NSFW?\u201d refers to OSHA \u2013 the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which sets and enforces federal government standards for safe working conditions. So in some sense they govern what\u2019s not safe for work (NSFW), but they\u2019re not concerned with your browsing history.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-1    \">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p>45A. \u201cAbusive avian?\u201d is not a bully, but rather JERKCHICKEN, the delicious Jamaican dish. If you\u2019ve ever noticed that \u201cjerk\u201d and \u201cjerky\u201d are both types of meat preparation, that\u2019s because they come from the same Spanish term \u201ccharqui.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>60A. \u201cArea in which a scarecrow might be outstanding?\u201d shouts out the famous dad joke with punchline FIELD \u2013 conflating its dual meanings \u201cdiscipline\u201d and \u201cland plot.\u201d <em>I must be a scarecrow the way I\u2019m outstanding in my field<\/em>, the joke goes.<\/p>\n<p>4D. \u201c___ bleu!\u201d is filled by SACRE. \u201cSacre bleu\u201d is a French expression of surprise that literally means \u201choly blue.\u201d It\u2019s derived from \u201csacre Dieu,\u201d meaning \u201choly God,\u201d which was considered to violate the Ten Commandments by using God\u2019s name in vain. This led to the rhyming euphemism \u201csacre bleu,\u201d and now the expression is used in such artistic masterpieces as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0N_RO-jL-90\">Philosophers Epic Rap Battle of History<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>32D. \u201cHalf an opinion?\u201d describes CENT. It references the idiom \u201cone\u2019s two cents,\u201d a term for someone\u2019s (possibly unsolicited) opinion. This ties into 55D\u2019s DIME, clued \u201cIt\u2019s worth 32-Down tenfold,\u201d which I guess implies that a dime is worth five opinions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Today\u2019s Theme:<\/strong><\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-2    \">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p>As the title and caption of these constructor notes suggest, this week\u2019s theme is about hiccups! Inside of each themed entry is the word HIC, placed as if one were hiccupping while saying them: 17-Across T<strong>HIC<\/strong>KSKIN, 27-Across DEMOGRAP<strong>HIC<\/strong>, and 45-Across JERKC<strong>HIC<\/strong>KEN. The revealer at 62-Across is my favorite hiccup remedy: JUMPSCARE.
