Inge is just the second member of the Michigan team to announce his transfer, following sophomore right-hander Dylan Vigue’s departure to Georgia in June.

Despite appearing in just 28 games this season, Inge showed great potential in the Wolverines’ infield. Spending time at second and third base as well as shortstop, Inge displayed an adaptability in the diamond that Michigan was keen to take advantage of. Ending the season with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage, Inge was responsible for 15 putouts and 21 assists this season. At the plate Inge grew as the season wore on, contributing with timely hits and one stolen base.

Entering the season, the Wolverines established an experienced infield with returning stars junior second baseman Mitch Voit and senior third baseman Cole Caruso aided by graduate transfers first baseman Jeter Ybarra and shortstop Benny Casillas. With Caruso, Ybarra and Casillas out of eligibility, and Voit set to enter the MLB Draft, , it seemed that Inge would be given the reins to the Wolverines’ new-look diamond. In the final competition of the season, Michigan took on UCLA in the Big Ten Tournament where their young talent shined. Alongside freshman right fielder Brayden Jefferis, Inge highlighted the potential of the Michigan infield as both Jefferis and Inge were likely to move into the infield in the 2026 season.

The Beavers ended their 2025 season 48-16-1, and made it to Omaha before being eliminated by Louisville in Game 3 of the double-elimination bracket. With Oregon State’s 2025 shortstop Aiva Arquette entering the MLB Draft, Inge looks to fill Arquette’s hole in the infield. In lieu of Inge, the Wolverines must look for other opportunities to fill in their ever-growing gaps in the infield.

Related articles

As the summer transfer portal closed on July 1, one of the Michigan baseball team’s youngest contributors recently announced his departure from the Wolverines.
