After a relatively quiet offseason, the Michigan baseball team just secured its first player from the transfer portal in Tennessee infielder Dane Morrow. After the Wolverines lost sophomore right-hander Dylan Vigue<\/a> to Georgia and freshman shortstop Tyler Inge<\/a> to Oregon State, it\u2019s imperative that they begin to bring in players of their own \u2014 and Morrow marks the beginning of that needed transfer class.\u00a0<\/p>\n Morrow announced his commitment to Michigan Tuesday on X<\/a>, exactly one month since he entered<\/a> the transfer portal on June 22. Morrow did not see any action for the Volunteers in 2025, electing to redshirt instead after brief appearances in fall ball friendlies. While Morrow hasn\u2019t shown his collegiate talents quite yet, he holds a wealth of potential that the Wolverines are likely eager to take advantage of.\u00a0<\/p>\n The Kentucky native made a name for himself in his junior year at Trinity High School when he committed<\/a> to Tennessee for baseball. Not only was Morrow a key component of his high school\u2019s infield, but he was also the top tackler for the football program. In his junior season he led Trinity\u2019s football team in tackles, while also leading the baseball squad in RBIs and triples. Morrow\u2019s success in both football and baseball lends itself to a versatile athletic ability that Michigan is certainly in need of.\u00a0<\/p>\n At the close of the 2025 season, it was clear that none of the Wolverines\u2019 infield starters would be returning<\/a> to the program the following season. With just Inge and freshman outfielder Brayden Jefferis initially set to take the reins on the diamond in 2026, it was clear that they were in need of personnel from the transfer portal \u2014 a feeling that was exacerbated when Inge announced his commitment to the Beavers. Morrow is entering at a time where a position in the Michigan infield is his for the taking.\u00a0<\/p>\n
