About 100 University of Michigan students and community members marched from the Diag to the Jewish Resource Center<\/a> Wednesday evening in support of the Jewish community on campus. Organized by the <\/a>University\u2019s chapter of Students Supporting Israel<\/a> and advocacy group Let\u2019s Do Something,<\/a> the march<\/a> was organized after a person attempted to kick down the door<\/a> of the center Sunday morning.<\/p>\n In an interview with The Michigan Daily, Rabbi Yitz Pierce, program director at JRC, described the attack on the center.<\/p>\n \u201cEarly Sunday morning, someone came by our building,\u201d Pierce said. \u201cIt\u2019s all on camera. They tried to kick in the front door. And when they failed, they left running and were screaming, \u2018F the Jews. F Israel. The Jews control us. F the Jews,\u2019 over and over again. And it was pretty disturbing, to be honest.\u201d<\/p>\n During the event, speakers spoke about their experiences with antisemitism, but also the support they received from the Jewish community at the University following Hamas\u2019s Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel which killed more than 1,200 people<\/a> and resulted in about 250 more<\/a> being taken hostage. The resulting Israeli military campaign in Gaza<\/a> has killed more than 67,000 people<\/a>.<\/p>\n
