{"id":3608,"date":"2025-11-12T10:52:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-12T10:52:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tmbglobal.news\/index.php\/2025\/11\/12\/hollywood-bowl-dedicates-stage-to-john-williams\/"},"modified":"2025-11-12T10:52:18","modified_gmt":"2025-11-12T10:52:18","slug":"hollywood-bowl-dedicates-stage-to-john-williams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tmbglobal.news\/index.php\/2025\/11\/12\/hollywood-bowl-dedicates-stage-to-john-williams\/","title":{"rendered":"Hollywood Bowl Dedicates Stage to John Williams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/john-williams\/\" id=\"auto-tag_john-williams_1\" data-tag=\"john-williams\">John Williams<\/a> has a permanent home at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/hollywood-bowl\/\" id=\"auto-tag_hollywood-bowl_1\" data-tag=\"hollywood-bowl\">Hollywood Bowl<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe LA Phil announced this week that it would be dedicating the venue\u2019s stage to the legendary composer and conductor as a way to honor his contributions to the art form in what marks a first in the Bowl\u2019s history.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLA Phil officials unveiled the dedication during a private ceremony attended by Williams and close friends and longtime collaborators like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/steven-spielberg\/\" id=\"auto-tag_steven-spielberg_1\" data-tag=\"steven-spielberg\">Steven Spielberg<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/george-lucas\/\" id=\"auto-tag_george-lucas_1\" data-tag=\"george-lucas\">George Lucas<\/a>, Mellody Hobson, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/gustavo-dudamel\/\" id=\"auto-tag_gustavo-dudamel_1\" data-tag=\"gustavo-dudamel\">Gustavo Dudamel<\/a>, Mari\u00e1 Valverde, Richard Dreyfuss, Thomas Newman, David Newman, LA Phil president and CEO Kim Noltemy, board chair Jason Subotky and others. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe ceremony featured performances of Williams\u2019\u00a0<em>Music for Brass<\/em>\u00a0by the LA Phil brass ensemble led by conductor Miguel Sep\u00falveda, and Williams\u2019 <em>Theme from\u00a0Sabrina<\/em>\u00a0by violinist Anne Akiko Meyers and LA Phil pianist Joanne Pearce Martin. Noltemy, Subotky, Dudamel and director of Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation Norma Edith Garc\u00eda-Gonzalez offered remarks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cFew artists have shaped the sound of our collective imagination as profoundly as John Williams. His music transcends generations, languages, and borders \u2014 inviting us to dream, to hope, and to feel,\u201d said Dudamel, LA Phil music and artistic director. \u201cEach note carries us somewhere extraordinary: toward adventure, toward wonder, toward belief. For nearly half a century, the Hollywood Bowl has been the stage where John\u2019s imagination meets the hearts of millions. As we dedicate the John Williams Stage at the Hollywood Bowl, we honor not only an incomparable composer and conductor, but also a dear friend whose artistry reminds us of the very purpose of music \u2014 to connect us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAdded Noltemy: \u201cThe Hollywood Bowl has become synonymous with John Williams\u2019 music. His scores have captivated generations of filmgoers, and his concerts at the Bowl have defined what it means to experience film music live. This dedication honors not only his artistic brilliance but also the way he has helped shape the Bowl into the most recognizable stage for symphonic film music.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe event culminated with the unveiling of the new John Williams Stage signage followed by remarks from the Oscar winner himself. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThis is an honor that is unprecedented and unequaled in generosity shown by the Los Angeles Philharmonic family \u2014 my family \u2014 in making this dedication,\u201d said Williams, who, for decades, has churned out memorable big screen scores for classics like\u00a0<em>Star Wars, E.T., Jurassic Park, Harry Potter,\u00a0Indiana Jones,\u00a0Jaws<\/em> and many others. \u201cI want to thank all of the donors in this effort, who proudly support and salute the work done by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, one of the great orchestras of the world.
