He started out at The Ivy during its paparazzi-heavy 1990s era, spending a decade at work as a busboy, runner and bartender. Then he went east to Pace, the in-the-know Laurel Canyon industry hang that\u2019s long been a second home to stars and suits. He started there as a server, rose to ma\u00eetre d\u2019 and finally became something of its mascot as the convivial general manager.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tNow, for the first time, he\u2019s got his own place. After leaving Pace, Pe\u00f1a has opened Studio City\u2019s 2-month-old Unidos, just steps from the Radford lot and the Art Directors Guild. Its neighbors include smash burger phenom Heavy Handed and third-wave coffee spot Yala.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-content-image \/\/  \">\n<figure class=\"o-figure   alignright size-thr-medium alignright lrv-u-max-width-100p\" style=\"width:435px\">\n<div class=\"c-lazy-image  \">\n<div class=\"lrv-a-crop-16x9\" style=\"padding-bottom:calc((292\/435)*100%);\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div><figcaption class=\"c-figcaption  lrv-u-padding-tb-025\">\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"a-font-secondary-s lrv-u-margin-r-025\">One of several paella dishes on the menu.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"a-font-accent-uppercase-xs lrv-u-color-grey-dark\">Stan Lee<\/cite><\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tUnidos (11830 Ventura Blvd.) is a tapas restaurant pulling in culinary strands found from Madrid to Marbella, Barcelona to the Basque region \u2014 all through a Californian lens.
