\n\tKeira Knightley<\/a> is set to lead a new West End<\/a> adaptation of Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck\u2019s Oscar-winning film The Lives of Others<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tAdapted and directed by Rockert Icke at London\u2019s Adelphi Theatre, the Pride and Prejudice <\/em>and Pirates of the Caribbean <\/em>actress will be joined by Game of Thrones<\/em> star Stephen Dillane<\/a> and Bridgerton<\/em>\u2018s Luke Thompson<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tFrom Sonia Friedman Productions, the stage show \u2014\u00a0also boasting an original score by Hamnet <\/em>composer Max Richter \u2014\u00a0will premiere on Oct. 29 this year, running until Jan. 9, 2027.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201c1984. East Germany,\u201d begins a plot synopsis. \u201cA writer and an actor are placed under state surveillance. From the attic above their apartment, their Stasi man listens for evidence of subversion. But to observe a life is to risk changing your own.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe production sees Icke and Friedman renew their creative partnership following their work on plays including Oedipus<\/em>, Manhunt<\/em>, Hamlet<\/em>, The Doctor<\/em>, Oresteia<\/em>, and 1984<\/em>. Knightley and Friedman re-team after working on 2011\u2019s The Children\u2019s Hour<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tHenckel von Donnersmarck\u2019s 2006 German-language film stormed the subsequent awards season, including at the Oscars, BAFTAs, Caesars, and Independent Spirit Awards. It starred Ulrich M\u00fche, Martina Gedeck, Sebastian Koch, and Ulrich Tukur.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI\u2019ve been obsessed with The Lives of Others<\/em> ever since I first saw it,\u201d said Friedman. \u201cFlorian Henckel von Donnersmarck\u2019s exquisite, haunting, and completely masterful film, and there is no one better than Robert Icke to bring this to life onstage.
