Nearly one-third of the Michigan baseball team\u2019s home runs come from one player: junior second baseman Colby Turner. On the heels of a breakout season, Turner added to his rapidly growing resume with more conference and national accolades.<\/p>\n
The All-Big Ten first team honoree<\/a> was named to the ABCA<\/a>\/Rawlings All-Midwest team Tuesday. The next day, Turner also earned NCBWA<\/a> third-team All-American and Academic All-Big Ten honors.\u00a0<\/p>\n Turner led the Wolverines in batting and slugging with 14 homers, 18 doubles and 55 RBIs. Along the way, Turner claimed the program\u2019s longest hitting streak \u2014 24 straight games.\u00a0<\/p>\n Michigan immediately reaped the benefits of Turner\u2019s production. At the Amegy Bank College Baseball Series<\/a> in February, Turner hit one home run in each of the three games. Turner also propelled the Wolverines to their first series win<\/a> against Rutgers with a three-run homer, going 4-for-4 in the pivotal Game 2. And his statistical peak came during a sweep<\/a> of Maryland, where Turner added 7 RBIs from just four hits, including two homers and a double.\u00a0<\/p>\n
