Day previously spent two seasons with Idaho State, though last year was her first year competing for the Bengals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During 2025, her first season of collegiate play, Day appeared in seven games contributing as a reserve, and tallied two hits throughout her nine at-bats. With these stats, she registered a .222 batting average and a .333 slugging percentage alongside two RBIs, a double and one scored run. The infielder also factored into play as a pinch hitter and pinch runner, spending time at first and second base when she was inserted into the lineup.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before heading to Idaho State, Day played travel <a href=\"https:\/\/isubengals.com\/sports\/softball\/roster\/kira--day\/8856\">ball<\/a> for the Arizona Hotshots along with playing for her high school in Phoenix. During her time with the Hotshots, Day contributed to their TCS World Series Championship win in 2023 along with their 2024 IDT 5th place finish. And while attending Cactus Shadows High School, Day was named MVP and Player of the Region during her senior year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Younger players such as freshman shortstop Kiley Carr have recently stepped in to fill the gaps that the graduating seniors left in the Wolverines\u2019 infield. However, the loss of former third baseman Maddie Erickson and second baseman Janelle Ilaqua \u2014 players who were steadfast staples at their respective bases most games \u2014 will still have a significant impact.
