\n\tBenny Blanco<\/a> knew exactly what he was looking for before falling in love<\/a> with Selena Gomez<\/a>.<\/p>\n \n\tThe couple, who got engaged in December last year<\/a>, made a recent appearance on the On Purpose with Jay Shetty <\/em>podcast<\/a>, where they opened up about their relationship.<\/p>\n \n\tAt one point, Blanco revealed that he actually made a list of \u201call the things I want\u201d in his future partner with his therapist, prior to starting a romantic relationship with the \u201cLose You To Love Me\u201d singer.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cBefore I met her, I was a guy in L.A. trying to find the one for me and I was having some trouble,\u201d the songwriter and record producer said. \u201cI think I was maybe not looking in all the right places.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tBlanco continued, \u201cI was like OK, it\u2019s time to be a grown up, I want to start a life, I want to have a family, I want to find a person that is like my other half that makes me feel better and I make them feel better. It\u2019s a give and take, the perfect yin and yang, so I wrote down a list.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWhen host Jay Shetty asked him to detail the list, Blanco said the \u201cfirst thing I wrote\u201d was that my future wife has to be \u201cage appropriate,\u201d which was \u201c30 plus\u201d to him.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cThe second thing I wrote was \u2014 I know this is so simple but so hard to come by \u2014\u00a0somebody who is kind, compassionate and caring,\u201d he added. \u201cI was like, \u2018That\u2019s really three-in-one but I need someone who is nice. A genuine nice person.’\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tGomez, who has been on a press tour with her fianc\u00e9 for their new joint album,\u00a0I Said I Love You First<\/em><\/a>, has been open about their relationship since going public in December 2023, telling The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> <\/em>last year that this is the \u201csafest I\u2019ve ever felt in\u201d in a relationship.<\/p>\n \n\tLast month, she also explained in an interview with Interview<\/em>\u00a0magazine\u00a0why being \u201calone\u201d for five years was needed<\/a> before entering into a long-term romance<\/a> with the record producer.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI think that really helped me appreciate someone like Ben,\u201d Gomez said at the time. \u201cHe gets so weirded out by me saying this, but genuinely, 10 years ago, I wasn\u2019t in a space in my life where I could have accepted the kind of patience, the kind of unconditional love that he gives me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Benny Blanco knew exactly what he was looking for before falling in love with Selena Gomez.
