With Valentini and incoming freshman forward J.P. Hurbert\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigandaily.com\/sports\/ice-hockey\/detroit-red-wings-select-j-p-hurlbert-23rd-overall-in-first-round-of-nhl-draft\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/www.michigandaily.com\/sports\/ice-hockey\/detroit-red-wings-select-j-p-hurlbert-23rd-overall-in-first-round-of-nhl-draft\/\">addition<\/a> to the exclusive club of draftees, the Wolverines continue to represent at the highest level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Valentini entered this season as one of the youngest players in the NCAA, not turning 18 until April 11. Despite the age gap, Valentini posted a 11-16-27 line in 40 games, made multiple appearances on the first line, held a valuable spot in the nation\u2019s No. 1 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncaa.com\/stats\/icehockey-men\/d1\/current\/team\/182\">power<\/a> play unit and positioned himself among more seasoned teammates in both scoring and points.\u00a0<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-1    \">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aside from his Frozen Four <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigandaily.com\/sports\/ice-hockey\/no-1-seed-michigan-falls-to-no-2-seed-denver-in-offensive-duel-in-frozen-four-semifinal-4-3\/\">appearance<\/a> and Big Ten Tournament <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigandaily.com\/sports\/ice-hockey\/unbroken-by-no-5-seed-ohio-state-no-2-michigan-wins-big-ten-tournament-championship-7-3\/\">championship<\/a>, Valentini recently <a href=\"https:\/\/mgoblue.com\/news\/2026\/4\/13\/ice-hockey-valentini-named-to-hockey-canada-u18-roster\">represented<\/a> Canada at the U18 Worlds, donning the \u2018A\u2019 on his sweater. His scoring abilities cemented him as a reliable teammate at the international level, averaging a point per game wearing the maple leaf.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a league that averages older in age, Valentini\u2019s ability to adapt aided him in his claim to a draft selection.
