\n\tJennifer Aniston<\/a> and Jim Curtis<\/a> took a very public step in their relationship on Wednesday, sitting down together for a conversation at 92NY. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe event was held in celebration of Curtis\u2019 new book The Book of Possibility<\/em>, and saw Aniston interview the transformational coach and wellness<\/a> expert \u2014 who she\u2019s been dating for over a year \u2014 on stage. \u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is very, very exciting. It is quite an honor to be here, especially with you, Jim Curtis,\u201d Aniston told the crowd, before launching into a story about how she grew up going to gym class and playing dodgeball in the 92NY building. \u201cIt\u2019s quite a full circle moment to be back here with you, speaking of dodging balls,\u201d she teased, wondering, \u201cHave I completely embarrassed you?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cNot yet. We\u2019re still on track here. First question please,\u201d Curtis joked back. She began by asking him about his journey to wellness and self-help, after growing up in Boston (where \u201cwe didn\u2019t suffer woo-woo,\u201d Curtis said) and having a finance career on Wall Street. Eventually, he hit an \u201cultimate low\u201d with his health and relationships, and wound up in the hospital with a scary diagnosis. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI just said, \u2018You know what? I\u2019ve reached rock bottom and it\u2019s time to change,’\u201d Curtis told the crowd as he got emotional. Aniston responded, \u201cYou reached this point where you\u2019re met with two roads, and you definitely took the road less traveled in your case.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tCurtis has walked with a limp since he was young due to lesions on his spinal cord, and admitted that when people would ask why, he\u2019d say he got into a motorcycle accident. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was so shameful that I had a medical condition, that I was broken in some way, that I thought that a motorcycle accident was at least a little macho, right? It\u2019s like this identity of the macho strong man,\u201d he said. \u201cIt didn\u2019t come with the connotation and shame of \u2018this could get worse\u2019 and \u2018should we hire you?\u2019 and that\u2019s what was thinking in my head.\u201d Curtis added, \u201cI overcame that with self-acceptance and self-love and it was a long journey in which I realized I could have done it quicker, and that\u2019s what this book is about.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tThe couple also drew some comparisons between their professions, as Aniston mused that \u201cif you\u2019re a director and you have an actor, depending on who your actor is \u2014 some actors, they\u2019re just like, \u2018I want to bleed this character from my veins, so please talk to me.\u2019 And then there\u2019s others that are like, \u2018Just give me a line reading. I want to be a Nobu by eight.’\u201d Curtis coaches a wide-range of clients, many that are quite successful, and had to learn how to speak to each person differently. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cPeople think like I\u2019m \u2018look into my eyes\u2019 type of thing,\u201d Curtis joked, referencing his work as a hypnotherapist. \u201cReally what our conversations as a coach is is asking the right questions so people can understand themselves more\u2026 I\u2019m lucky enough to have worked in finance. I\u2019m lucky enough to have worked in media and the entrepreneurial companies, and so I can speak that language to that person in a way that isn\u2019t like \u2018believe in the source of love that you are, straight from the heavens.\u2019 That doesn\u2019t fly.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tBefore jumping to some audience submissions, Curtis told Aniston, \u201cThose were fantastic questions, by the way \u2014 and I know that we kind of went over those questions,\u201d as she jumped in, \u201cI didn\u2019t ask you one question that was prepared. I don\u2019t know what you\u2019re talking about.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tTheir banter continued as the transformational coach joked that the hardest part of working on the book was choosing the cover: \u201cIs that a good enough picture of me? How does my hair \u2014 you know. How many times did I ask you, \u2018Is this a good picture of me to put on this cover?’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cA lot,\u201d Aniston responded, teasing him with the next question, \u201cWhat did you learn about yourself while writing the book? You got a good picture.\u201d At the end, Curtis threw a few questions to Aniston, with her admitting she had to \u201covercome a very deep, deep fear of public speaking\u201d to do the event with him. <\/p>\n

\n\tAfter a 30-minute chat, Aniston exited the stage and Curtis led the crowd in a guided meditation \u2014 but first, he had to get a feel for the audience. \u201cHow many people here meditate on a regular basis? And be honest, how many people here just came here to see Jennifer Aniston interview me?\u201d he laughed. \u201cHow many people here, despite that, are willing to try some meditation? How many people here are worried I\u2019m going to try to hypnotize you and you\u2019ll act like a chicken?\u201d<\/p>\n
