Martin\u2019s Game of Thrones<\/a>: The Mad King<\/em> stage show is coming to London.<\/p>\n \n\tFollowing its critically acclaimed world premiere at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon this year, the production \u2014\u00a0based on novels by Thrones <\/em>mastermind Martin and adapted by Duncan Macmillan \u2014\u00a0is set to hit the British capital in 2027. Dominic Cooke serves as director, with a venue, dates and London casting coming in due course.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI had an absolutely splendid time in Stratford-upon-Avon for the premiere and am thrilled the production will be moving to London to share the experience with a wider audience,\u201d said Martin, who is also an executive producer of the show. \u201cIt promises to be an exhilarating journey.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe synopsis for the show is as follows: \u201cEnter the world before. A long winter thaws in Harrenhal, and spring is promised. At a lavish banquet on the eve of a jousting tournament, lovers meet and revelers speculate about who will contend. But in the shadows, amid growing unease at the blood-thirsty actions of the realm\u2019s merciless Mad King, dissenters from his inner circle anxiously advance a treasonous plot.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cFar away, the drums of battle sound,\u201d it continues. \u201cFamily bonds, ancient prophecies, and the sacred line of succession will be tested in a dangerous campaign for power. Who will survive? Who will rise? Wars aren\u2019t won by those with most cause, but whose story\u2019s best told.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe cast for the Royal Shakespeare Theatre production included Michael Abubakar\u00a0as Eddard Stark, Elizabeth Ayodele\u00a0as Princess Elia Martell, Maxim Ays\u00a0as Ser Jaime Lannister, Miles Barrow as Benjen Stark,\u00a0Islam Bouakkaz\u00a0as Howland Reed,\u00a0Luke Brady\u00a0as Brandon Stark, Marty Breen as Catelyn Stark) and Sebastian Charles\u00a0as Owen Merryweather. Famed characters Robert Baratheon, King Aerys II Targaryen, Lyanna Stark and Cersei Lannister also feature in the show.<\/p>\n \n\tThe production was well-received by critics upon its July debut. The Guardian<\/a> <\/em>said the Game of Thrones <\/em>prequel \u201chas one joust after another, spectacular stagecraft and plenty of modern resonance\u201d while The Times<\/a> <\/em>said it \u201clacks pace, sex and gore.\u201d In a four-star review, The Independent <\/em>said: \u201cFans of\u00a0Game of Thrones\u00a0<\/em>are gleefully or grimly accustomed to its creator\u00a0George R.
