Pea-sized hail predicted with thunderstorms to hit Allegan and Van Buren counties Friday

The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 12:05 p.m. EDT on Friday for strong thunderstorms until 1 p.m. EDT for Allegan and Van Buren counties.

The storms are packing wind gusts of up to 40 mph and pea-sized hail (0.25 inches).

“At 12:04 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm near South Haven, moving east at 55 mph,” according to the weather service. “Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.”
