A familiar face welcomed Lions fans back to the NFL season.
Former Lions wide receiver great Calvin Johnson starred in a pregame promo for NBC ahead of the team’s Sunday night season-opener against the Los Angeles Rams.
In the video, Johnson spoke of his own career in Detroit, the Lions’ 0-16 season, the atmosphere in team’s two playoff wins last year and Matthew Stafford’s second return to Ford Field.
“It still gives me chills,” said Johnson, referring to the Lions’ home playoff victories against Tampa Bay and Stafford’s Rams.
The Lions are among this year’s Super Bowl favorites.
Johnson had 11,619 receiving yards and 83 touchdowns in nine seasons in Detroit.
