Michigan adds Jordann Reese to coaching staff

Date:

The Michigan women’s basketball team announced Thursday in a press release that it has added Jordann Reese, a former Creighton assistant coach, to its staff in the same role.

Reese served as an assistant coach for Creighton from 2020 through this past season. During her tenure, the Bluejays made four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the 2022 Elite Eight. Prior to her tenure at Creighton, she was an assistant coach at Saint Louis, and has also coached at SIU Edwardsville and Webster.

“We are thrilled to add Jordann to our program,” Wolverines coach Kim Barnes Arico said in a press release. “Building a staff is also like building a team, where you try to find the pieces that fit together, and Jordann is a perfect fit.”

Per the release, Reese was responsible for the development of Creighton’s guards, and oversaw player development at Creighton as a whole. Under her tutelage, guard Lauren Jensen reached the 2000-point threshold and was named all-Big East First Team three times.

Reese will likely be tasked with furthering the development of the Wolverines’ young guards. Now-sophomore guards Olivia Olson, Syla Swords and Mila Holloway burst onto the scene last year, with Olson and Swords finishing the season as Michigan’s two leading scorers and Holloway leading the team in assists. Accordingly, Olson and Swords were named to the all-Big Ten second team and freshman team, and Holloway was an all-Big Ten honorable mention.

“Player development is a huge piece of our program here, and she helped to develop some of the best guards in the country over the last few seasons,” Barnes Arico said.
The hiring of Reese comes weeks after the Wolverines added Danielle Rauch as an assistant.
