Samsonite’s New Travel Campaign Stars John Turturro in His Native NYC

Severance star John Turturro is going outie and about(ie) in his native New York with Samsonite.

The Emmy-winning actor showcases the travel company’s lightweight Proxis luggage and sleek Silhouette 18 collection in as part of the brand’s ongoing “It’s Not Just a Bag, It’s a Samsonite” campaign. Shot by photographer Alicia Shi across the Big Apple, Turturro totes his Samsonite gear — including carry-ons, hardside check-in spinners and a backpack — at Grand Central Station, in the Upper East Side, in hotel elevators and a midtown taxi stand.

“For John, decades of iconic roles have made for just as iconic trips. From opulent first-class flights to jet-sets on the Concorde, he remembers the days of luxury that almost felt private, good food and heavier suitcases, like the ones he lugged on a boat in Venice on his honeymoon,” notes the brand. “He identifies as a good traveler, always calm even in a bout of turbulence and ready to take on new destinations as soon as he lands with a schedule that has required going straight from the plane to rehearsal.”

The campaign features the ultra-durable Proxis suitcase made of the brand’s proprietary Roxkin material that was “engineered to bounce back into shape” and weighs under five pounds for the carry-on size. (The company even sent it up to the edge of space as part of a drop test stunt.) Turturro is also seen with the business class-minded Silhouette 18 hardside suitcases, which are made of scratch-resistant textured polycarbonate and feature a magnetic ID tag, a built-in AirTag holder, removable compression packing cubes and a suspension wheel system for seamless rolling as soon as you land.

The Big Lebowski actor is the latest star to collaborate with the American travel goods brand. Samsonite has previously teamed with Sarah Jessica Parker, BTS, Team USA Gymnastics and others across Hollywood, sports, music and beyond on exclusive collections.
