Michigan hires Adam Cornwell as Recruiting and Player Development Assistant

Date:

The Michigan baseball team’s offseason has been mostly quiet regarding additions. But after two players announced departures, freshman infielder Tyler Inge and sophomore right-hander Dylan Vigue, the Wolverines added a new supplement to their coaching staff: Adam Cornwell.

Announced on X on Tuesday, Cornwell will join Michigan as a Recruiting and Player Development Assistant. Cornwell has experience in the recruiting department as he served in that role, as well as the team’s pitching coach, at the University of Indianapolis prior to his move to the Wolverines. Cornwell will act under assistant coach Jake Valentine who is the team’s recruiting coordinator.

Cornwell has been around the midwest collegiate baseball atmosphere for most of his coaching days. After pitching for the Greyhounds, he went on to coach at the University of Dayton and then later coaching at UIndy.

While Michigan’s high-school recruiting has traditionally been strong within the state, it has looked to the transfer portal for recent additions. With three of their four starting infielders, as well as a litany of other faces within the starting lineup having come from the portal, the Wolverines are not a squad that is unacquainted with unfamiliar faces. And as Cornwell will shore up the loss of former assistant coach Ty Neal, Michigan will look to him to keep adding stars to the program.
