Taylor Swift is opening up about her engagement to Travis Kelce.
While doing a press tour amid the release of her new album, The Life of a Showgirl, Swift has openly discussed her engagement to the Kansas City Chiefs tight end and offered details on her engagement ring that has caught attention for its sizable diamond.
“He designed it with this amazing jeweler, Kindred Lubeck. She does all of her gold engraving by hand,” Swift said of the ring while on the U.K. radio show Heart Breakfast on Friday, Oct. 3.
She recalled showing him a video of the designer’s work at a time not realizing that he would enlist that same designer for her ring.
“I had shown him a video, I just thought her stuff was so cool, I had shown him a video like a year and a half ago, and he was just paying attention to everything it turns out because when I saw the ring I [gasped] … I was like, ‘I know who made this, I know who made this,’ and also, you listen to me,” she said.
Swift explained that she wasn’t sure what she would want for an engagement ring, but Kelce seemingly did and delivered.
“It was like, you really know me. I didn’t know what I would want, but he did somehow, and that’s kind of a flex,” she added.
After host Emma Bunton asked bachelorette party plans, Swift admitted that she hadn’t even though about that yet but that her friends are “scattered across the world.”
“You would think that I had been the type of person who would have obsessed over the idea of a wedding my whole life, but I actually never thought about what I would ever do or what I would want until I met the person, so I haven’t even thought about that, doing a hen do or whatever. This is the first time I have thought about it. They’re so fun, but so busy,” she said of her friends.
When further talking about Kelce, Swift said she’s been told by loved ones that “you’ve never been so yourself” after he came into her life.
Meanwhile, while appearing on The Graham Norton Show Friday, Swift said Kelce “crushed it” when it came to surprising her with the proposal.
“He really crushed it in surprising me,” Swift told Norton about Kelce. “While we were talking on his podcast, he had a complete garden built out the back of his house to propose in.” (Swift appeared on Kelce’s podcast with his brother Jason, New Heights, in which Swift made the surprise announcement that she’d be releasing her 12th studio album.)
“He went all out – 10 out of 10,” she added.
When Swift took to Instagram to announce the news of their engagement, she shared a collection of photos including one of Kelce getting on one knee in a rose garden. The happy couple captioned photos of their engagement: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”
Kelce has also opened up about the engagement to Swift saying on his New Heights podcast, “It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.”
When further talking about the “exciting times,” Jason asked if Travis had any proposal advice to share, to which Travis said to simply “know your partner.”
“You can’t let how somebody else does it make you feel like you need to do it that way,” he added. “Know your partner. Know who you’re doing it for and do it for the right reasons. Everything else will be beautiful.”
