The tragic story of Love Island UK host Caroline Flack is back in the headlines this week with the premiere of the new Disney+ documentary, Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth.
The two-part original docuseries examines the Love Island presenter’s rise to fame, her career as one of Britain’s biggest television stars, her high-profile relationships, and ultimately, her troubled final days before she took her own life in February 2020.
Produced by Curious Films, Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth is a Disney+ exclusive, meaning the only way to watch the documentary is by streaming it online. The two-part series airs on Disney+ in the UK and is streaming now on Hulu in the U.S. American viewers can watch the Caroline Flack documentary by signing up for Hulu, which currently costs $11.99/month. The new Flack documentary features interviews with the TV star’s family and friends, including her mother Christine, as she tries to piece together the final months of her daughter’s life. Though Flack was best-known as the original host of Love Island, which premiered on the UK’s ITV in 2015, she also presented on The X-Factor and won the twelfth season of the celebrity dance competition Strictly Come Dancing (the British version of Dancing With the Stars).
But Flack’s professional life was occasionally overshadowed by turmoil in her personal life. After constant tabloid attention from a brief relationship with Harry Styles, Flack began a relationship with British tennis player Lewis Burton, which ended in December 19 after she was arrested for allegedly assaulting him at her home in London.
According to the series description, “Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth examines the shocking story of Caroline Flack, Love Island presenter and one of Britain’s biggest stars. After her arrest in 2019, she became the target of a relentless media storm. Vilified in the press and online, her world spiraled – ending in tragedy when she took her own life. This powerful two-part documentary follows Caroline’s mother, Christine, as she investigates the truth about her daughter’s final months – uncovering new shocking details, asking difficult questions, and exposing the misrepresentations, pressures, and failures from institutions and decision makers that shaped Caroline’s final days.”
“I still have so many questions about what happened to Caroline in her final months, and it’s something I feel deeply compelled to explore, even though I know it will be challenging,” Christine Flack says. “I’m pleased to be working with the team at Curious Films once again, in the hope of bringing clarity and understanding to Carrie’s story — not just for her, but for everyone who cared about her.”
Caroline Flack: Search for the Truth premiered on Monday, November 10 and is available to stream online now through Hulu. Get a 30-day free trial to Hulu here.
