Three days ago, senior edge rusher Derrick Moore became the No. 18 Michigan football team’s first player to declare for the NFL Draft. On Tuesday, senior edge rusher Jaishawn Barham announced on social media that he will also enter his name in the draft.
After spending his first two seasons with Maryland, Barham transferred to Ann Arbor where he played two more seasons. Barham started 23 games with the Terrapins, all at linebacker where he was a two-time All-Big Ten honorable mention and recorded 96 tackles, seven sacks, one forced fumble and one interception in those two seasons.
With the Wolverines, Barham made a strong first impression and earned the starting nod right away in his junior season. As a junior, he started all 13 games at linebacker and had 66 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack. Known for his quiet yet violent demeanor, Barham continued the success of his first two seasons and even made the transition to edge rusher midway through his senior campaign.
This season, Barham started the two of the first three games at linebacker before transitioning over to his edge rushing position where he started the rest of the season. With 32 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, four sacks and a forced fumble, Barham also once again earned an All-Big Ten honorable mention nod for his efforts.
Michigan interim head coach Biff Poggi announced Monday that Moore, Barham and senior offensive lineman Giovanni El-Hadi would all sit out of Michigan’s upcoming Citrus Bowl against Texas. Although it isn’t a surprise that both Moore and Barham have entered their names into the 2026 NFL Draft, the Wolverines are losing a plethora of firepower off the edge going into next season.
