Sophomore right fielder Lauren Putz was named as a D1 Softball Second Team All-American Tuesday, the lone Michigan player to appear on the list.
As the Wolverines’ star slugger all season long, Putz’s value to Michigan has been undeniable. She led the Wolverines in home runs, batting average, and RBIs in 2026. In tightly contested affairs, it was often her hitting prowess that made the difference for Michigan.
Putz cemented herself as one of the best hitters in the Big Ten this campaign. She ranked third in the conference with an OPS of 1.503 and even tied for the most doubles in the conference with 19. All of that showcased her knack for combining power with consistent contact.
But Putz proved to be more than just a hitter too. Her 10 stolen bases ranked 12th in the conference, tied with speedster teammate in senior designated player Indiana Langford. Defensively, she was consistent, making all 58 of her starts in right field.
Despite the Wolverines’ up and down season, it’s been an award-laden year for Putz. She’s already been recognized as the 2026 Michigan softball team MVP and a member of the All-Big Ten First Team. Now though, she has earned national honors for her season.
