Adam Valentini selected 96th by Utah Mammoth in NHL Draft

Date:

The streak continues.

With the 96th pick in the 2026 National Hockey League Entry Draft, the Utah Mammoth selected freshman forward Adam Valentini, sending him to the the league’s newest franchise.

After 31 consecutive years, the Michigan hockey team has yet to see one of its recruits or current players not hear their name called at the draft. With Valentini and incoming freshman forward J.P. Hurbert’s addition to the exclusive club of draftees, the Wolverines continue to represent at the highest level.

Valentini entered this season as one of the youngest players in the NCAA, not turning 18 until April 11. Despite the age gap, Valentini posted a 11-16-27 line in 40 games, made multiple appearances on the first line, held a valuable spot in the nation’s No. 1 power play unit and positioned himself among more seasoned teammates in both scoring and points.

Aside from his Frozen Four appearance and Big Ten Tournament championship, Valentini recently represented Canada at the U18 Worlds, donning the ‘A’ on his sweater. His scoring abilities cemented him as a reliable teammate at the international level, averaging a point per game wearing the maple leaf.

In a league that averages older in age, Valentini’s ability to adapt aided him in his claim to a draft selection. And now as a seasoned veteran, Valentini has the ability to elevate the Wolverines to a level they have been unable to achieve for years — this time with his name added to the wall of Michigan draft picks.
